Overview / Description:

The Tate High School Showband of the South is searching for an experienced and passionate individual to lead our Color Guard/Winter Guard program for the 2022 Fall marching season. Previous Drum Corps/Color Guard experience is preferred. Responsibilities will include but not limited to, creating a positive environment of respect amongst students, staff, and parents, teaching fundamentals for dance, flag, and weapons, designing choreography for the halftime performance, and overseeing all aspects of the winter guard program.

Tate High School has a long history of outstanding Color Guard and Winter Guard performance. Our Winter Guard, The Tate Chaparrals, is the longest running competitive high school unit in the country and won World Championships in 1989. Currently the unit competes in the Regional A classification in the GCGPC with the aspirations of moving to Scholastic A and returning to World Championships in Dayton in the future.

Teaching Schedule:

It is important to our program that whoever is hired in this position be present to instruct the color guard students as often as possible. The following is the rehearsal schedule for the upcoming season.

Leadership Training May 31 and June 2
Rookie Camps (full guard) June 6-9
Color Guard Camp July 11-14
Band Camp July 18-21 and July 25-29
After School Rehearsals Mon. Tues, and Thurs.
7th Period Class Mon. through Fri.
Football Games / Competitions TBD
Winter Guard Practices TBD

Salary 

The Tate Band Booster organization funds this payment of this position through collected band dues.Total salary is negotiable and will be determined by prior experience and availability.
