Naugatuck HS Winter Guard Presents “Mother Nature Speaks”

January 15, 2019

The Naugatuck Winter Guard is proud to present their 2019 production, “Mother Nature Speaks.” The show will make you think twice about our impact on the planet, the only place we call home.  Mother Nature will tell the story from her perspective, something we all need to hear if we are to heal her.

Some call me Nature, others call me Mother Nature. I’ve been here for over four-and-a-half billion years; 22,500 times longer than you.  I don’t really need people, but people need me. Yes, your future depends on me. When I thrive, you thrive; when I falter, you falter, or worse. But I have been here for eons; I have fed species greater than you, and I have starved species greater than you. My oceans, my soil, my flowing streams, my forests. They all can take you, or leave you. How you choose to live each day, whether you regard or disregard me doesn’t really matter to me; one way or the other. Your actions will determine your fate, not mine.  I am Nature, I am prepared to evolve.  Are you?

The Naugatuck Winter Guard is under the direction of Tommy Kaplan, and staff include Natalie DeAndrea and Jennie Pelletier. Costume and flag design is by Joe Heininger and A Wish Come True. The guard’s 2019 captains are Genisus Acosta and Marissa Ludgis. The Naugatuck Winter Guard would like to thank their Band Director, Robert Hughes, the Naugatuck Board of Education, school administration, and Greyhound Band Association for their ongoing and continued support of the program.

Naugatuck will be traveling to the WGI Salem Regional, WGI South Brunswick Regional, and WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. You can also catch Naugatuck perform in their home circuit, Musical Arts Conference, on Saturdays in Connecticut!
