UD Arena Unveils Transformation Plans

University of Dayton officials unveiled transformation plans to UD Arena this morning, which will feature new premier seating, an expanded concourse, and changes to the building’s exterior. The work will be the most extensive renovations in a decade for the 47-year-old arena.

The work will be completed over three phases, stretching through 2020, University of Dayton officials said in a press conference this morning.Phase I will be completed so that the arena will be able to host the 2018 WGI World Championships. 

In a statement from President Eric Spina and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan, the university said, “We are announcing today a $72 million transformation of the historic UD Arena into an environmentally conscious, state-of-the-art facility that will be finished in time to celebrate the arena’s 50th anniversary in 2019.”

President Eric Spina said “incredible private support … is making this transformation possible.”

WGI Sport of the Arts is excited about these renovations and knows this will only enhance the WGI World Championships experience.
