WGI Announces Inaugural Costa Rica Event

WGI Sport of the Arts, the world’s leader in producing indoor marching arts events for color guard, percussion ensembles, and winds groups, today announced the first-ever WGI event in Central America. WGI Costa Rica will take place on Sunday, September 30, at the Olympic Village Desamparados in San Jose, Costa Rica in cooperation with Marching Arts Inc. – Latin America and Salesian Band Don Bosco CR.

This announcement comes during WGI’s most ambitious international year in its existence having events in Japan last January and the Philippines next month. Established events in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand are expected to be announced soon.

“After discussing the possibility of creating this premiere event in Central America for a few years, we are excited to add WGI Costa Rica to our growing list of international offerings for young people,” said WGI Executive Director Ron Nankervis. “We cannot wait to explore the possibilities of this region with our new friends in this endeavor.”

“We are very happy to offer all the teams in the region unique experiences in the hands of WGI,” said Anthonny Oviedo, a representative of MAI – Latin America. General organizer of Band Selesian Don Bosco CR Erick Sanchez Castro said, “Costa Rica and Latin America are about to enter a new world and we are very excited that WGI can develop events in our country, which will help reach new levels for the participants.”

WGI Costa Rica is open to participation from groups from all countries. Groups wishing to inquire about registration or more information for WGI Costa Rica should contact the event organizer by visiting the international section on WGI.org or the WGI Costa Rica Facebook page.
